Changing Media Player's Shape

Windows Media Player can assume a variety of shapes, so you can use it however you likein Full mode, for example, to let it take over your computer, or in Mini Player mode so that you can keep on working. Of course, some shapes aren't appropriate for all types of media, but you can play around with the shapes to see which is best for you.

Switch Modes

With Windows Media Player running, do any of the following:

  • Press Alt+Enter to switch to Full Screen mode.

  • In Full Screen mode, press Esc or click the Exit Full Screen Mode button to return to the previous mode.

  • In Full mode, click the View Full Screen button to switch to Full Screen mode, or click the Switch To Compact Mode button to switch to Mini Player mode.

  • In Mini Player mode, click the View Full Screen Mode button to switch to Full Screen mode, or click the Return To Full Mode button to switch to Full mode.

  • Press Ctrl+2 to switch to Skins mode.

  • In Skins mode, click the Switch To Full Mode button.

  • In Mini Player or Skins mode, click the Minimize button to reduce the player to a Media Player toolbar on the taskbar. If the toolbar player isn't shown, right-click the taskbar, point to Toolbars, and click Windows Media Player.
