Controlling Video Playback

Watching video with Windows Media Player, whether it's streaming video from the Web or video files on your computer, is fairly straightforward. All you need to do is click the link on the Web page for the streaming video or choose the video from your Media Library, and then watch it on the Now Playing tab of Windows Media Player. However, you can also control the speed of the video playback and can even examine it frame by frame.

Adjust the Playback

With your video playing, click the Now Playing down arrow, point to Enhancements, and choose Video Settings from the drop-down menu.

Use the sliders to adjust the hue, brightness, saturation, and contrast of the video.

Click Select Video Zoom Settings to specify the size of the video image.

Keep clicking the Next Enhancement or the Previous Enhancement button until the Play Speed Settings controls are displayed.

Drag the slider to set the speed of the playback. The green area shows the range of available speeds.

Click the Next Frame button to pause the video. Then click the Previous Frame or the Next Frame button to move the image backward or forward by single frames.

Click the Next Enhancement or the Previous Enhancement button, and use the other enhancements to adjust the sound.
