Summary

This chapter introduced the grid problem in the context of a virtual organization and the proposed Grid Computing architecture as a suggested solution to the grid problem. The overall grid architecture is designed for controlled resource sharing with better interoperability among the participants .

This introduction on the anatomy of Grid Computing helps us understand aspects of architecture and design, while understanding the grid protocols for resource sharing with the maximum interoperability between users and resources. In addition to this, this chapter discussed the relationships between grid systems and distributed systems by providing emphasis toward the understanding of exactly how these varying disciplines compliment, while at the same time, differ in some degrees to each other.
