Chapter 9: Dealing with Multiple Browsers
Overview
Not everyone uses the Internet Explorer browser. I know that's hard to believe, but it's true. Somewhat less than half the world uses the Netscape Navigator browser. Fewer than 5 percent use less well known browsers such as Opera or Mosaic.
In this chapter, I'm going to concentrate on the differences between Netscape Communication Corporation's Netscape Navigator and Microsoft's IE, but the principles you'll see here apply to any browser. You'll learn how to:
Determine the type of browser accessing your application
Find detailed information about that browser type
Use several approaches to writing browser-specific code
