Chapter 12. Using the Content Module

The Content module is a place where you can keep and store static text content. You may wonder to yourself why PHP-Nuke seems to have so many places to store static content. After all, in Topic 9, "Writing a Story," I showed you how to write a news story; how are stories supposed to be different from "content?" In the PHP-Nuke world, a story is meant to be temporary: something that shows up on your home page for a while and then rotates into the archive for long-term storage. Content, on the other hand, is permanent text, like general contact information, which users will always need access to. Content doesn't show up on your home page (at least, not if you've left the News module as your home page), and it doesn't get rotated out into an archive, like news stories do. Content is just ever-present and unchanging.
