I'm going to spend the next few pages indulging your inner geek. If you don't have an inner geek and wish I'd just get on with configuring PHP-Nuke, skip ahead one topic; I'll explain some critical PHP-Nuke terms in Topic 3, "Understanding the Nuke Lingo," and get right into configuration by Topic 6, "Configuring Site Preferences." Promise. If you plan to continue with the inner-geek experience, go ahead and download PHP-Nuke from www.phpnuke.org. Even if you won't be hosting your Web site on your home computer, it'll be handy to have a local copy of PHP-Nuke to play with and look at. You don't need to set up a Web browser or anything; you can look inside PHP-Nuke's files using Windows Notepad, which is all you'll need for right now. |
