Chapter 51. Administering Surveys and Polls

Surveys, pollsas I mentioned in Topic 27, "Using the Surveys Module," PHP-Nuke uses the two terms interchangeably. To get started, you need to create a survey: Select the Surveys/Polls item in the Administration menu. Figure 51.1 shows the entry screen where you'll create a new survey.

Surveys are simple animals: Just provide a title and up to 12 potential answers that your users can choose from. That's it. When creating a new survey, you also have the option to create a new news story to announce the survey: The entry form for a new news story (described in Topic 19, "Using the News Module," by the way) is repeated underneath the new survey area of the page. Closer to the top of the page, you'll find the Delete Polls and Edit Polls links, which, as you might expect, let you delete or edit existing surveys.

Editing a survey is a bit unlike editing other items in PHP-Nuke. As you can see in Figure 51.2, you select the survey you want by using a radio button, and then you click the Edit button. You're presented with a screen that's remarkably like the Add a Survey screen, except that you won't be able to create a news story along with the survey, since the survey already exists and was presumably announced (if you wanted to) when you originally created it.

Deleting a survey works the same: Select the survey by using the radio button and click Delete.
