All About Groups


You probably think that groups are something into which you place users. Not exactly. If you go into the Administration menu and click on Users Groups, you'll see a screen like the one shown in Figure 46.1. While you can create a group, you can't decide who goes into itat least, not directly. Instead, you specify the minimum number of points required to attain membership in the group. Any user with that many points automatically "joins" the group.

So where do points come from? A bit farther down on the Users Groups screen, you decide where points come from by telling PHP-Nuke how many points to award for various activities on your site. Everything from creating journal entries to simply viewing pages on the site can be worth a given number of points; users who perform these actions receive the associated number of points and are eligible for whatever groups you've set up. See Figure 46.2.
