This chapter provided design pattern summaries for the sample applications that will demonstrate the features of the languages covered in this book. The patterns were illustrated by data flows outlining the Sockets API functions. Although each language provides a similar set of API functions, each differs in the manner in which it is used. Therefore, by covering the same design pattern in each language, we can better appreciate the offerings of each of the languages.
