Summary

 < Day Day Up >

This short tour of Sockets programming in Tcl provided a brief discussion of the Tcl language in addition to the available socket commands for the network application developer. Although Tcl is a popular application-glue language, and includes the basic needs for stream sockets development, it lacks native support for datagram sockets and multicast. Tcl does provide some alternative mechanisms for notification, and a very interesting callback architecture for socket events.
