Any existing Word document, or new document that you create, can be saved as a Web Page. When Word saves the document as a Web Page, it automatically converts any Word formatting to Hypertext Markup Language ( HTML ) . HTML is the standard format for posting and viewing data on a Web site. A Web browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, interprets HTML code to determine how to display a Web page. The document that you save as a Web page consists of an HTML file and a folder that stores supporting files, such as graphics. Word selects the appropriate graphic format for you based on the image's content. You can continue to open and work with the file from Word. Save a Document as a Web Page
