Exiting Excel

After you finish working on a workbook, you can close it. Closing a workbook makes more computer memory available for other processes. Closing a workbook is different from quitting Excel: after you close a workbook, Excel is still running. When you're finished using Excel, you can quit the program. To protect your files, always quit Excel before turning off your computer.

If you have made any changes to the workbook since last saving it, the Office Assistant asks if you want them saved.
