Getting Help

At some point, everyone has a question or two about the program they are using. The Office online Help system in Excel provides the answers you need. You can search an extensive catalog of Help topics using a table of contents to locate specific information, or get context sensitive help in a dialog box.

Get Help Without the Office Assistant

Click the Help button on the Standard toolbar.

  • Type one or more keywords in the Search For box, and then click the Start Searching button.

  • Click Table Of Contents.

The topic you want appears in the right pane.

Read the topic, and then click any hyperlinks to get the information on related topics or definitions.

When you are done, click the Close button.

Click the Close button in the task pane.

Get Help While You Work

Click the Type A Question For Help box.

Type your question, and then press Enter.

Click the topic in which you want to read.

When you're done, click the Close button in the task pane.

Get Help in a Dialog Box

Display the dialog box in which you want to get help.

Click the Help button.

Read the information in the Help window, and then click any links to display additional information.
