This is the website of our organisation, the Global Foresight Network. It is dedicated to twenty-first century navigation. The site is updated most days and has opportunities for membership. It has some challenging ideas about Foresight Scorecards, which are focused on understanding at what speed we might need to migrate to the future.

  • N Marsh, M McAllum & D Purcell, Strategic Foresight:The power of standing in the future ,Crown Content, Melbourne, 2002. This book, which I coauthored, defines many of the key concepts around the idea of strategic foresight. It is aimed principally at organisations.

  • G Yeffeth (ed. ), Taking the Red Pill: Science, philosophy and religion in The Matrix, BenBella Books, Dallas,Texas, 2003.

As you might gather, I am a fan of the first Matrix movie. This book deals with a number of issues, with the most significant chapters being by Ray Kurzweil and Bill Joy. They both raise the extreme possibilities of our age and the ethical dilemmas that confront us. Bill Joys chapter, ˜Why the future doesnt need us, originally published in Wired magazine, is one of the most important essays of our time.

  • M Wheatley, Leadership and the New Science: Discovering order in a chaotic world , Berrett Koeheler, San Francisco, 1999.

Margaret Wheatley spells out the logic behind living-systems thinking. It is beautifully written and should be a primer for anyone interested in organisation development

  • H Cleveland, Nobody in Charge: Essays on the future of leadership , Jossey Bass, San Francisco, 2002.

This book contains some of the best ideas around on leadership. It is recommended by leadership luminaries such as Peter Drucker, Dee Hock and John W Gardner.
