Windows Media Services is an open platform exposing more than 500 properties and methods on nearly 60 interfaces. You can use the rich set of interfaces to programmatically configure a Windows Media server, monitor both the server and clients connected to it, or access all logging statistics.
Customize the functionality of your Windows Media server using installed plug-ins, or create your own. The Windows Media Services SDK now provides interfaces that let you create the following types of plug-ins:
Authentication
Cache/proxy
Control protocol
Data writer
Data source
Event notification and authorization
Logging
Media parser
Playlist parser
The newly expanded Windows Media Services SDK provides full developer support for all of the interfaces, properties, and methods just listed and is scenario-based. Use C, Visual C++, Visual C#, Visual Basic, Visual Basic Scripting Edition (VBScript), Microsoft JScript, and other scripting languages to create your custom applications.
