Opening an Existing File


If you've already saved an image file, you can reopen it at any time to make changes and improvements. You can open not only images that have been created in Photoshop, but almost any other type of image file.

  1. Click on File . The File menu will appear.

  2. Click on Open . The Open dialog box will open.

    Tip

    To open a file you've used recently, click on the File menu, drag the mouse pointer down to the Open Recent command, and then click on the name of the file you want to open in the submenu that appears.

  3. Navigate to the file location . The desired file will be displayed in the file list. You may need to do one or more of the following to locate the file:

  4. Click on the file you want to open. A preview of the file will appear at the bottom of the Open dialog box.

  5. Click on Open . The file will appear onscreen.
