SUMMARY

In this chapter we summarized the range of new server controls included with ASP.NET 2.0 and looked at the more significant changes to existing controls. In general the changes are concentrated on the controls from the System.Web.UI.WebControls namespace, and there is a conscious move away from the use of the controls in the HtmlControls namespace. This follows from the new control architecture and adaptive rendering advances, and the few gaps left in the WebControls range (such as the file upload and hidden controls) have also been filled with new controls in that namespace.

While we haven't covered every change to every control nor demonstrated all the possibilities of the new controls ( mainly through lack of space), we have provided you with a good foundation to become familiar with using the new controls and the new architecture that supports them. Bear in mind that the current release is only a Technology Preview, so there are almost definitely going to be more changes and additions during coming months as we move through the beta stages to a final release.

Now it's time to take a look at how administration and configuration of ASP.NET have been improved.
