Selections are a way to isolate certain parts of your image so you can apply a certain effect or brush stroke only to that area. One analogy that can be used to describe selections is painting a room. Typically when you paint a room, you use masking tape to make sure certain areas don't get paint on them. Selections work in quite the same way; they prevent you from painting in a certain area while allowing you to paint in other areas. There are a variety of tools available in Painter to help you make and edit selections. In this chapter you'll learn how to:
Make basic selections
Edit selections
Save selections
Change the selection mode
