The only way to really answer that question is to take the exam, but you probably have a pretty good idea of what you need to know and how well you know it. Whether the idea you have is accurate is a different question. Going through the Self-Assessment at the beginning of this book is a less expensive check than paying the exam fee. It will also give you a pretty good idea, if you treat the Self-Assessment honestly (telling yourself "I know that" is not the same as actually knowing it).

The Self-Assessment reflects the information I saw on the exam, and my words here have been reviewed by others who have passed the exam. We cannot guarantee that you will see exactly what we saw (although we could nearly guarantee that you will not , given the fact that there are multiple exam question sets at any given time, the necessary time lapse in publishing, and the fact that Cisco exams do evolve ). However, compare the Self-Assessment and how you fared with it to the Exam Topics and Exam Description provided by Cisco on its Web page: You should see a close fit between the Self-Assessment and what Cisco says the exam is about. Now add in how you truly did with the Self-Assessment, and you should have a more accurate answer to the question "Are you ready?"
