Summary

In this chapter, we took a very complex project with many components and subsystems (albeit a simple implementation) and deployed it to an enterprise application server and servlet engine, and to both at the same time with the EAR file. We demonstrated the use of three types of deployment descriptors for Web applications, enterprise bean modules, and enterprise applications. We also demonstrated how to use a similar set of tags to create consistent sets of related buildfiles. Finally, we showed how to assemble all these buildfiles into a single project using a master buildfile to coordinate the building and deploying of the application. The last part of the chapter presented a case study showing a more realistic version of an enterprise application.
