In addition to all the system customization you can do in GNOME, Mozilla allows you to customize its interface through the use of skins designed specifically for Mozilla. You can try this out, if you like. To start, open your Mozilla browser. It should look pretty much as it always has.
Mozilla comes with two preinstalled themes right out of the box: Classic (the default) and Modern. To try this out, let’s try changing to the Modern theme. Go to the Mozilla View menu and select Apply Theme > Modern. Then exit Mozilla and run it again.
When it appears this time, the Modern theme will be in place, which you should recognize if you’ve been using recent versions of Netscape. This change will affect not only your Mozilla Web browser, but also Mozilla Composer and Mail.
If you are not satisfied with the themes that come preinstalled with Mozilla, you can download and install more. To do this, go back to the View menu, and this time select Apply Theme > Get New Themes. A new window should now open, and there will be a choice of two links to click: themes.mozdev.org and theme.freshmeat.net. For sake of convenience, click the mozdev.org link, and that page will load in yet another new window. Once it has loaded, scroll down the page until you find a link for Skypilot Classic on the right side. Once you find the link, click it.
After the new page loads, you will see a sample of the Sky Pilot Classic theme and, a bit further down the page, a link that says Install It! Click that link.
A dialog box (Figure 5-17) will then appear to confirm that you want to install and use the theme in question. Click the OK button, which will then bring up a window showing the progress of your download and installation.

After the download is complete, the word success will replace the progress bar. Click OK to close the window.
Now, select your new theme by going back to the Mozilla View menu and selecting Apply Themes > Skypilot Classic. Quit Mozilla and then run it again, and you should see the new theme (see Figure 5-18).

You can, of course, download and install other themes in the same manner from either site. Just be sure to download versions that are appropriate for your browser, though both sites should automatically direct you to the correct version. You can find out what version of Mozilla you are running by going to the Help menu in Mozilla and selecting About Mozilla.
