ISDN Simulator Physical Connections

   

Before you configure the ISDN simulator, take a look at the physical layout of the ISDN environment. Figure D-1 illustrates the physical layout.

From the figure, you can see that R5 is connected to the S/T port 2 of the ISDN switch and that R6 is connected to the S/T port 1 of the ISDN switch. You do not need to use the N port because the routers already have the N interface within the BRI interface. The dial numbers to reach each of these ports appear on the diagram. For R5 to be capable of calling R6, it must dial 835-8661; for R6 to call R5, it must dial 835-8662. Because you are using the ISDN switch type AT&T Custom 5-ESS, no SPIDs are needed. If you want to use SPIDs at a later date, you will need to change the ISDN switch type to one that supports SPIDs; refer to your user manual for the SPID numbers for the individual B channels.
