Section 3.14. The Last Word

3.14. The Last Word

In this chapter, you've learned about all of Windows Server 2003 and R2's file, print, and user services. We began with an overview of sharing and a guide to creating shares, publishing them to Active Directory, and mapping drives, and then moved into a detailed discussion of the Windows permission structure, including permission levels, "special" permissions, inheritance, and ownership. You also saw an overview of the Distributed File System (DFS), how to set it up, and how to manage it, and how offline files and folders and the Encrypting File System operate. Rounding out the chapter, you saw how to manage printing services, use roaming profiles, and administer most of these services from the command line.

In the next chapter, I'll talk about the foundation of Windows Server 2003's Active Directory servicethe domain name system, or DNS.
