Chapter 2. Configuration Management in Maturity Models

A number of maturity models exist for development in general. All include requirements for configuration management, though the requirements vary from model to model. So does the way in which configuration management forms part of the maturity assessment methods . In the following sections, configuration management is discussed in light of the most commonly used and acknowledged maturity models, namely CMM and SPICE (ISO 15504). Sources for each are listed in the bibliography.

Please note that these maturity models use the concept "baseline." This is, of course, kept in quotes. The meaning of "baseline" in these maturity models is similar to the expression "configuration item"that is, any item placed under configuration management.
