Chapter 24. Processes for Configuration Managementup to Capability Level 3Capability level 3, as defined by CMMI, is where the configuration management process is institutionalized as a defined process. A defined process is a managed process tailored from the organization's standard processes. Deviations beyond those allowed by the tailoring guidelines are documented, justified, reviewed, and approved. This chapter provides a general introduction to the concept of processes and process models and a more specific list of possible procedures for configuration management, including two examples. A process model must always be tailored to the relevant companypreferably by combining the knowledge and working habits within the company with theory and best practices in the field. Process models may vary considerably from company to companyin layout, presentation media, degree of formality , coverage. The examples here should be used as inspiration. |
