Installing Frontend Components for End-User Reporting and Analysis

Team-Fly

Installation of SAP BW for end users and BW application developers is similar to that of the frontend for the SAP BW administrator. The only difference is that the end-user and developer workstation must have Microsoft Office 97 and Service Pack 1 installed. Run the SETUP program from the SAP BW presentation CD. When asked for the components to install, check BW AddOn, OLE DB for OLAP Provider, and SAPGUI (see Figure 6-4), and install the SAP BW client.

Reboot the workstation when the BW client installation has finished. Verify the SAP BW client, as described here.

Launch the SAP Business Explorer Analyzer from the SAP frontend 4.5A group, as shown in Figure 6-5. This launches Microsoft Excel. You should see the SAP Business Explorer menu bar (see Figure 6-6). If you do not see the SAP Business Explorer menu bar, add it manually. Use the following menu path to add the SAP BW Excel add-in SAPBEX.XLA.

Tools, Add-Ins, Browse

Select the directory where the SAP BW frontend is installed on your workstation; for example, C:\SAPpc. The name of the BEX add-in is Sapbex.xla. You will find this in a subdirectory called BW (for example, C:\SAPpc\BW\). Select Sapbex.xla and click OK. This adds the BEX add-in (macro) in Excel. Save it. Close and restart a Microsoft Excel session. When Microsoft Excel starts, it launches the SAP Business Explorer Analyzer menu as part of the Microsoft Excel menu.
