If you are an SAP customer, you may already have SAPGUI installed on a workstation. Because SAP BW uses new features of SAPGUI 4.x, uninstall the current SAPGUI from your workstation (Windows 95, Windows 98, or NT Server 4.0) and re-install the SAP BW SAPGUI that came with your SAP BW installation kits (possibly version 4.5 or 4.6).
Caution | Do not delete the SAPGUI directory or remove files manually from your SAPGUI directory. The Windows registry contains several SAPGUI entries. Manually removing files from the SAPGUI directory on disk does not remove such entries from the system registry. This will cause problems when you install new SAPGUI for SAP BW. The correct method to remove SAPGUI is to run the uninstall program provided by SAP. |
As shown in Figure 6-1, there are two types of SAP BW frontends. One type is for the SAP BW administrator, and the other is for end users or analytical application developers. Install SAPGUI for the SAP BW administrator workstation. This easy installation process is listed here:
Insert the SAP BW FrontEnd CD in your system's CD drive.
Double-click the Setup icon.
Select the SAPGUI applications and development components (see Figure 6-3), and click Next. Make sure that you have at least 100MB of disk space available for the SAPGUI components.
